Our Story

Our Story – 78 Years in Alamo Heights

Since 1948, Heights Pool has been Alamo Heights’ sunny oasis, where friendships grow and summer memories are made.

Thirty-four years ago, the city-run pool was set to be filled in. Rick Shaw, known to everyone as “The Pool Guy”, saved it. Today his daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Clayton Smaistrla, carry on his legacy with the same passion and community spirit.

Generations have grown up here: Pool Shark ribbons, Fourth of July coin dives, cannonball contests, and ice cream under the Texas sun.

It’s not just a pool. It’s the neighborhood’s gathering place. We’d love to welcome your family into the story.
